Offered courses 'Drug Regulatory Affairs'
Master's degree programme
The standard period of study for the full-time programme is two years, including the internship and the Master's thesis, and is divided into four semesters. The part-time Master's degree programme can be completed in three years, i.e. six semesters.
The course content is taught in 12 modules, each lasting around 20 to 30 hours with a total time of around 345 hours (block teaching on Fridays and Saturdays) in face-to-face (20 %) and online events (80 %). Written study papers or project work must be completed to successfully pass each module. There is also an oral or written examination in six of the twelve modules. A compulsory internship is completed to consolidate the acquired knowledge and put it into practice. The Master's thesis concludes the programme.
The language of instruction and examination is English.
Upon completion of the programme, a Master's certificate is issued by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bonn and the title ‘Master of Drug Regulatory Affairs’ M.D.R.A. is awarded.

Admission requirements
Who can apply for the programme?
To be enrolled in the continuing education Master's degree programme 'Drug Regulatory Affairs', applicants must fulfil the following requirements in accordance with the current examination regulations (in German):
- A professionally qualifying university degree (pharmacy/biology/medicine/life science or similar. The examination board decides on the recognition of other relevant degrees.
- Professional experience: at least 1 year (relevant to the university degree)
- Language skills: English B2 (classification see Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Proof of relevant experience and participation in further training events in the field of ‘Drug Regulatory Affairs’ are also beneficial for the admission of an applicant.
Participants are admitted by the examination board of the University of Bonn.

Tuition fees
How much does it cost to study?
According to the University Act of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, continuing education programmes must be self-financing, so a tuition fee is charged. The current tuition fee is € 8,000. From course 27 on (start winter semester 2025/2026), the fee will be € 9,900.The annual contribution of company members (€ 1,500) may be credited against the tuition fee.
In addition, a social contribution of € 115 per semester must be paid directly to the University of Bonn (as of 08/2024).
Scholarship
With its scholarship, the DGRA supports students of the Master's degree programme ‘Drug Regulatory Affairs’ who are unable to finance the tuition fee from their own resources. The DGRA awards one full scholarship (€ 9,900) or two half-scholarships (€ 4,950) per academic year.

Some modules and parts of the Master's degree programme are recognised by the North Rhine Chamber of Pharmacists. Further seminars must be attended during the entire training period. The completion of this further education includes an oral examination.
